Three rivers, four water bodies, five wetlands and six forests have completely dried up in Chennai despite having better water resources and rains than other metro city. “Chennai also had 3000 Irrigation tanks. Why don’t they restore those thanks and Irrigation systems”, Manohar Khushalani asks, “instead of banking on de-salination Plants. That in any case should be the last resort, because treated Sea water is most expensive”.
